Banque BEMO invited its team, clients and neighbors to plant this space, transforming it from a parking spot to a refuge for Life in the heart of Beirut.
theOtherDada employs the Miyawaki afforestation method to rewild degraded urban lands, by studying nearby undisturbed ecosystems to identify the native plant species making up our local forest ecosystem. The young saplings are then planted closely together to mimic nature’s balance, creating a dense, self-sustaining forest that supports vibrant and diverse wildlife, and provides a literal breath of fresh air!
In line with Banque BEMO’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, theOtherDada offers an urgent and tangible part of the solution to the environmental crisis, harnessing Nature to build climate resilience.
Just one parking spot can host more than 50 native saplings such as Oak, Pine, Zaarour, Pistachio and Zaatar, providing habitat for wildlife, cleaner air, edible and medicinal species, cooling urban areas, sequestering carbon, filtering stormwater to recharge underground aquifers, as well as improving physical and mental health.
