432 Park Avenue New York by Rafael Vinoly is currently the tallest residential tower in the western hemisphere. The design challenge was to enable an uninterrupted view of the Manhattan skyline, by creating a free-flowing and dynamic interior environment.
Our two proposals present a vibrant space that refuses to conform to any orthogonal divisions whether in the interior divisions or the furniture design itself. One of the options presented is an extreme open-plan layout that can be temporarily subdivided at the clients' whim; the arrangement of the spaces maximizes the users’ view to the outside while creating a special living experience for them, allowing them to walk around the central core and enjoy an uninterrupted 360 view of New York's skyline. The second option offers clearly divided public and private spaces.
